Crying Mother Battling Cancer Was Told To Terminate Pregnancy She Stood Her Ground And Refused

Those pregnant moms out there, I’m sure, can relate to a doctor telling them one thing but their instinct telling them something else.

Never are your instincts stronger than when you’re pregnant but it’s hard when a medical professional is advising you to do something you just know is wrong.

I admire any mother who stands their ground.

Sarah Wickline Hull was one of those moms but her case was extreme. Nevertheless she went against a doctor’s advice and is now so thankful she did. Her story has captured the hearts of a nation.

Sarah shared her story in a Facebook post in January. More than 300,000 people have shared the post since then.

It started when she found out she was pregnant, something that should have been a joyous occasion as she had spent years trying.

But Sarah had serious complications and in her Facebook post explains more.

“I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that was cutting off my airway at 20 weeks of pregnancy,” she wrote.

“I will never forget when the first doctor, an oncologist, mentioned abortion. We had gone thru years of infertility to get pregnant. I knew I would rather die and give birth.

“Then I met with another doctor who listed all of the problems the baby would have if I did not terminate. I stood my ground and refused.

“He said, ‘That is ok. The baby will probably spontaneously abort anyway.’”

Instead Sarah changed her doctor and found one that supported her. She then gave birth to a healthy baby at 34 weeks.

Miraculously this was ten years ago. Next month this courageous woman be celebrating 10 years cancer free and also the 10th birthday of her beautiful daughter.

“I have a healthy, beautiful, bright, precious 10-year-old daughter who is a living reminder that doctors do not know everything.”

Sarah is now a huge inspiration for everyone to be their own advocate when it comes to doctors.
